A Welcome Note from School Council

Dear TMC Families,

TMC School Council would like to welcome you all to the 2014-2015 school year.

As some of you know we did not have a council meeting in September contrary to the school calendar.  The first thing we would like to do is extend our sincerest apologies for the inconveniences this may have caused you and your families.  Our hope is that you are able to join us at our first School Council meeting on October 1, 2014 at 7:00 in the Learning Commons.

We are happy to say that Jeannine Everette and Darlene Unruh, from the CBE, will be at this first meeting to discuss Planning and Accommodation for schools in the Tuscany Community for the 2015-2016 year.

Jacket Racket 2014

Jacket Racket 2014

Dear TMC Parents,

Jacket Racket is a volunteer organization with the goal of ensuring that every child from Kindergarten to Grade 12 has a warm winter coat to wear to school.  90% of donations come from schools.  The jackets are then distributed to children in schools where there is a need.

This year we are once again inviting our students and parents to participate in a coat drive for Jacket Racket.  They accept gently used warm winter jackets, snow pants, hats and mittens for all ages.

Last year, Twelve Mile Coulee School donated 172 good quality jackets, as well as many snow pants, hats, and mittens.

A box will be set up in the foyer for collection from September 18th to October 17th, 2014.

We encourage you to generously support this worthy project.  It is a great opportunity to help students who may be less fortunate.

Please direct any questions to Pam Mylrea at pdmylrea@telusplanet.net.

Titan Lunch!!

TMC Titan Lunch 2014 - 2015

Welcome back Twelve Mile Coulee parents and students!

The TMC school council is pleased to once again offer the TMC Titan Lunch program for 2014 – 2015 school year.  The program will run the third Thursday of every month, with a few exceptions.

TMC Titan Lunch dates will be:

          October 16            November 20            December 18            January 15
          February 19          April 16                     May 21                     June 18

In response to a survey of TMC student/parents completed at the end of last school year, we will continue to offer Little Caesars© pizza, and alternate with Extreme Pita©, and Subway©
We are excited to continue to utilize the on-line lunch ordering system “Healthy Hunger”.  This program allows for quick, convenient ordering and additional food options.  This program is done completely on-line, and is very user friendly.

To Register, go to:  www.HealthyHunger.ca

For technical assistance with the website, please call the Help Line at 1-800-818-6260

Our first lunch date is October 16th.  Please ensure that you register your student(s) and place your order no later than October 10th.  Please ensure that your orders are placed and paid for no later than the FRIDAY  prior to each TMC Titan Lunch. Our vendors need time to prepare, therefore late orders cannot be accepted. You will be able to place your order monthly, or for the entire year if you choose, and will be able to pay online using a credit card or online banking.

On Titan Lunch day school council has elected to provide lunch for TMC staff and Titan Lunch volunteers, the nominal cost of which is included in each order. Any proceeds left at the end of this school year will go towards the building of the TMC Outdoor Fitness Area, hopefully in September 2015.

The TMC Titan Lunch program is only successful when we have enough volunteers to help distribute the food to the students.  If you are interested, have current security clearance at TMC and are available to help out on a TMC Titan Lunch date, please email TMCTitanLunch@gmail.com .  We are often short volunteers and can always use an extra pair of hands.

Parents, please remind your student that if they have ordered and believe there is an error, to please notify the volunteer immediately.  As many students leave the classroom for lunch, we cannot locate them down once they have left the classroom.

Thank you, and we are looking forward to a new and exciting year.
Pam Mylrea
